Beauty, grace, and courage
In 2010 the Women of Roswell Community Church embarked on a new journey together through the medium of journaling. Mary Freeman, a local folk artist and member of the church, began holding monthly gatherings for women who want to connect with other women and who desire to explore their heart and relationship with God in a unique and powerful way. These gatherings were a huge success both relationally and spiritually for the women at Roswell. In 2011, these gatherings went deeper through a fall retreat. The girls at Roswell continue to gather 10 times a year on Saturday mornings to visual journal. They also meet monthly for the Girls Night Out (GNO) to connect and welcome new girls to the church. There is a fall retreat scheduled for 2012 as well. We want you to come join us in this wonderful discovery of our hearts and life in the Gospel.
Why Journaling?
Something happens when you take time to be still, to reflect, and to create. You begin to relax your shoulders
and take a deep breath and listen to what your feeling. Taking the space to journal – whether you’re documenting your day or expressing deep emotions – allows God to step into that space with you and begin speaking to your insights, hurts, or self-expression.
Visual journaling is the combination of words, color, and images on a page. You don’t have to be an artist for visual journaling – it’s not about the product; it’s the process that is so significant. Sometimes just getting your hands dirty in paint can help unlock areas of the heart.
