About RCC — Leadership

leaders

One Team. One Purpose.

Roswell Community Church is led by a group of Elders, as distinguished from a pastor-led or congregation-led church. Elders are people (traditionally men) who are chosen for their spiritual maturity to make decisions and provide direction for the church body and leadership. The emphasis is on service—they don’t make rules or dictate laws. Instead, they make sure the church is fulfilling it’s God-given purpose—faithfully meeting God and one another’s needs. Our Elder board serves as the overseers of the church body and the staff.

Our staff is comprised of men and women, both vocational and lay, who bring their talents to specific areas of ministry. The staff team is led by Matt Miller. He, alongside Matthew Browne and Art Vander Veen co-create plans and strategies to move the church toward our mission and vision. The Elder board then empowers the staff to execute these plans. Some of our Elders also serve as staff pastors, but not everyone on our staff is on the Elder board. The staff is under the direction and protection of the Elder board, who is ultimately accountable for the church.

Together, our elders and staff serve as one team with one purpose.

The Apostle Paul

to the elders in Ephesus:

“Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.”
- Acts 20.28

Elders

The qualifications for eldership are found in two primary places in Scripture:
1 Timothy 3.1-7 and Titus 1.5-9.

Here is a brief list of the qualities we expect in an elder.
